11, 2024: Free Dental Check-up and Oral Health Awareness – Toranagatte
On Monday, 11th November 2024, a free dental check-up camp and oral health awareness session were organized in Toranagatte, Jagaluru Taluk. This event was jointly conducted by Prerana Social Centre, Bapuji Dental College and Hospital, and S.S. Care Trust, Davanagere. Dr. Sapna B, Professor and Head of the Department of Community Dentistry, and her team provided dental screening and treatment services. Residents and students of the primary and higher primary schools benefited from this program. Present on the occasion were Fr. Ronald Furtado, Director, Prerana social centre, K.B. Balappa, K.T. Tippeswamy, SDMC President N. Ningappa, SDMC Members M. Tippeswamy, T.G. Balappa, Srinivas, K.C. Ramanna, Rudramuni, GP Members, Shri RagappaVenkappa. Primary School HM, Shri Jagadeesh, High School HM, and local leaders G.B. Badappa and Ningappa.
December 14, 2024: Free Dental Camp – Pallagatte
A free dental camp was held at the Government Higher Primary School in Pallagatte village, organized by Prerana Social Centre, in collaboration with College of Dental Sciences, Davanagere, and S.S. Care Trust. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammad Imran Ullah, Professor. The event raised strong awareness about oral hygiene. Notable attendees included Dr. P.S. Aravindan, District Vigilance Committee Member), Fr. Ronald Furtado, Director, Prerana social centre, journalist M.D. Abdul Raqeeb, Smt. Siddamma, HM, J.N. Marutesh, HM, Pallagatte HPS, Dr. Mithun, Dr. Vijayalakshmi, Dr. Bhavani, Dr. Priya, and the school faculty.
February 21, 2025 – Free Dental Camp – Uddagatte
On February 21, 2025, a free dental check-up camp was held at Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential School in Uddagatte village, Jagaluru Taluk. The event was jointly organized by Prerana Social Centre, Jagalur, College of Dental Sciences, and S.S. Care Trust. Dr. P.S. Aravindan inaugurated the program. Dr. Lilly B.K., Professor at the College of Dental Sciences, highlighted the link between dental hygiene and overall health. Guests included: Fr. Ronald Furtado – Director, Prerana Social Centre, Shri Sashidhar – Principal, Kittur Rani Chennamma Residential School, M.D. Abdul Rakheeb – Journalist, Dr. Vijayalakshmi, Dr. Mithun, Dr. Bhavani, Dr. Priya, and the Dentistry staff.
November 25, 2024 – International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Jyothipura
An awareness program on legal rights for women was held in Jyothipura village, Jagaluru Taluk, to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The event was organized by Prerana Social Centre, Jagaluru, in association with the Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project B.C. Trust, Jagaluru. Mr. Birendra Kumar, Taluk Child Development Project Officer, inaugurated the program and shared information on safety measures and government facilities available for women, including the use and benefits of Women Helpline 181. General health camp-Jagalur.
Prerana Social Welfare Centre, in collaboration with K.S. Hegde Hospital, Deralakatte, organized a General Health and Eye Camp at its premises. The program was inaugurated by Shri B. Devendrappa, Hon’ble MLA, Fr. William graced the occasion as the chief guest, sharing words of encouragement and support. The camp witnessed active participation and support from medical professionals and guests, including Mr. Jason George and Mr. Ravi Kumar from K.S. Hegde Hospital, Dr. P. S. Aravindan, Mr. Chidanand, Mr. Mahantheswarappa, Ms. Shaheen Begam, and many others. A total of 217 individuals benefited from various medical services offered during the camp, which included general check-ups, eye examinations, and the distribution of medicines.
International Women’s Day
Prerana Social Welfare Centre, Jagalur, joyfully organized International Women’s Day celebration at its centre, focusing on the empowerment and well-being of women. The event witnessed the active participation of 123 women beneficiaries from nearby villages. The program was presided over by Fr. Nelson Pinto, whose inspiring words encouraged women to stand strong and work toward self-reliance. The event was inaugurated by Dr. P. S. Aravindan, who highlighted the importance of recognizing women’s contributions in every sphere of life. Dr. Mallikarjun (Lawyer) and Dr. Shwetha Belagalli served as the resource persons, offering insightful sessions on legal rights and health awareness for women. The discussions empowered the participants with practical knowledge on how to protect their rights and take better care of their physical and mental health.
Tailoring training-Kelakote Village
Prerana Social Welfare Centre, Jagalur, successfully organized a Free Tailoring Centre at Kelakote village with the aim of empowering rural women through skill development and self-employment opportunities. The training program was conducted over four months, during which 19 women from economically weaker sections of the village participated as beneficiaries. The course covered both theoretical and practical training in basic tailoring skills, including stitching, cutting, measuring, and pattern making.
