Dengue Awareness Program Conducted at Mount Carmel CBSE School, Kadaganchi

To promote health and hygiene among students during the monsoon season, an awareness program on dengue fever was organized today at Mount Carmel CBSE School, Kadaganchi. The initiative aimed to educate students on the dangers of mosquito-borne diseases and preventive practices to stay safe.

With the onset of rains, stagnant water in open containers, old vessels, and surroundings becomes an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes. Students were sensitized about the importance of preventing water stagnation and maintaining cleanliness in and around their homes to stop mosquito reproduction and control the spread of dengue.

Dr. Safi Patil, Health Inspector from the District Health Department, addressed the students on the causes, symptoms, modes of transmission, and potential complications of dengue fever. He emphasized early detection and personal hygiene as key to preventing outbreaks. Mr. Neelakantha from the Kadaganchi Primary Health Centre spoke on other mosquito-borne illnesses and shared practical tips on mosquito control, including the use of repellents, covering water containers, and keeping the environment clean.

The program witnessed active participation from the school community. Present at the event were Fr. Deepak Thomas (School Manager), Fr. Sandeep (Principal), Fr. William Miranda (Secretary, Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust), along with school teachers and students. This awareness session was part of Carmel Jyothi Trust’s commitment to community well-being and health education, fostering responsible habits among young students for a healthier society.
