Cataract Screening Eye Camp at Jagalur: A Ray of Hope for Rural Community

Prerana Social Welfare Centre, Jagalur, in collaboration with M.R.T. Rural Eye Hospital, Kondlahalli, organized a special cataract screening eye camp on 25th September 2025. The initiative was aimed at extending accessible and quality eye care services to the rural population, with special focus on the elderly, who are often most affected by vision-related health issues.

The camp witnessed an encouraging response, with over 82 villagers from Jagalur and the surrounding areas actively participating. A team of dedicated doctors and medical staff conducted vision testing, general eye check-ups, and detailed cataract screening for all the participants.

During the examinations, 15 cases of cataract were diagnosed. These patients were immediately counseled and referred to M.R.T. Rural Eye Hospital for surgery and advanced treatment. The timely intervention is expected to significantly improve their quality of life and restore clear vision.

The camp not only addressed immediate health concerns but also spread awareness among the villagers about the importance of regular eye check-ups, early detection of cataract, and preventive care. Many elderly participants expressed gratitude, sharing that such initiatives bring vital healthcare services right to their doorstep, saving them time, effort, and expenses.

Prerana Social Welfare Centre, true to its mission of serving the marginalized, continues to prioritize community health and well-being through such collaborative programs. The success of this camp stands as a testament to the power of partnership, compassion, and outreach in rural healthcare.
