UNIT 1 : Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust – Huvinahadagali

Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust was established by the Discalced Carmelites of the Karnataka-Goa Province with a primary focus on social welfare activities. The Provincial Superior serves as the President of the Trust. It was officially registered on 26th January 2005 at the Huvinahadagali Taluk Registrar Office, Vijayanagar District, under the Department of Stamps and Registration Act, 1957, Section 10A (Book No. IV-08/2004-05).

The following activities are conducted in the Huvinahadagali unit.

April 25, 2023: Feeding the Hungry
I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.” – Matthew 25:35. Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust, Huvinahadagali, extended a helping hand to the underprivileged by organizing a midday meal program for the poor children of Kayaknagar. This act of compassion reflects the Trust’s unwavering commitment to serving the needy and spreading love through action.

June 2023: Scholarship for the poor children
In its mission to uplift underprivileged communities, C.J.P.C.Trust, Huvinahadagali, has taken a noble step by sponsoring the education fees of poor and needy children. This initiative aims to ensure that financial hardship does not stand in the way of a child’s right to education and a brighter future

June 5, 2023. Legal Awareness Camp at Carmel Seva Sadan
Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust, Huvinahadagali,in collaboration with judicial authorities, organized a Legal Awareness Camp at Carmel Seva Sadan, Huvinahadagali. The camp aimed to educate participants about their legal rights and responsibilities, especially concerning women’s welfare and social justice. Around 200 Anganwadi and ASHA workers actively took part in the program, gaining valuable insights into the legal system and how it supports their work in the community

June 7, 2023: Supporting Education through study materials
C.J.P.C. Trust, Huvinahadagali, distributed educational materials—including notebooks, pens, pencils, school bags, and other essentials—to around 100 poor and deserving children in various villages of Hadaali.

June 12, 2023: Free General Health Camp at Mount Carmel School
C.J.P.C.Trust, Huvinahadagali, in collaboration with Yenapoya Hospital, Deralakatte, Mangalore, organized a Free General Health Camp at Mount Carmel School Campus. Qualified Doctors and the dedicated nursing staff conducted health check-ups and provided necessary treatment to the Children and the people. Around 600 people benefited from this initiative, which aimed to improve access to basic healthcare services in rural areas.

December 11, 2023: Large Animal Camp
C.J.P.C.Trust, Huvinahadagali, in collaboration with the Government Veterinary Hospital, Huvinahadagali, organized a Free Veterinary Camp at Tippapura village. Dr. Shivkumar and a team of dedicated veterinary doctors participated in the camp, where around 100 animals were examined and provided with necessary treatment.

March 12, 2024: Large Animal Camp
C.J.P.C. Trust, Huvinahadagali, in collaboration with the Government Veterinary Hospital, organized a Free Veterinary Camp at Nagatibasapura village. Dr. Shivkumar and a team of dedicated veterinary doctors participated in the camp, where around 70 animals were examined and provided with necessary treatment.

January 11, 2024: Dental Camp- Hadagali
C.J.P.C.Trust, Huvinahadagali, in collaboration with Bapuji Dental College, Davangere, organized a Free Dental Camp at Mount Carmel School, Huvinahadagali. The camp provided dental check-ups and treatment to around 600 students and 60 parents, promoting oral health awareness and preventive care. A dedicated team of dental professionals from Bapuji Dental College ensured quality service, making the event a great success.

Driving Training and Licence
As part of its commitment to self-reliance and employment opportunities, C.J. P. C.Trust, Huvinahadagali, also offers driving training for deserving youth. Along with practical training, the Trust assists participants in obtaining their official driving licenses.

June 10, 2024: Charity towards Education through Study materials
C.J.P.C.Trust, Huvinahadagali, distributed study materials—including notebooks, pens, pencils, school bags, and other essentials 150 poor and deserving children of various villages.

December 9, 2024: Veterinary Camp
In collaboration with the Government Veterinary Hospital, Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust, Huvinahadagali, organized a Free Veterinary Camp at Mirakoranahalli village. Dr. Shivkumar and a team of dedicated veterinary doctors participated in the camp, where around 65 animals were examined and provided with necessary treatment. This initiative reflects the Trust’s commitment to animal welfare and support for rural farming communities

February 1, 2025: Free General Health Camp at Kayaknagar Village
In collaboration with Assisi Hospital, Huvinahadagali, Carmel Jyothi Public Charitable Trust organized a Free General Health Camp at Kayaknagar village. Dr. Sr. Rincy and the dedicated nursing staff conducted health check-ups and provided necessary treatment to the villagers. Around 90 people benefited from this initiative, which aimed to improve access to basic healthcare services in rural areas.
